All The Fallen

Sources and Attribution Policy

Understand how primary sources, reporting, translations, embeds, quotations and anonymous information should be credited.

Understand how primary sources, reporting, translations, embeds, quotations and anonymous information should be credited.

Credit the original work

When another outlet, researcher, translator or creator contributes original information, the article should name and link to that source. Repeating a chain of aggregators can obscure the origin and introduce error, so writers should trace claims back whenever practical.

Quotations must be accurate and limited to what is necessary. Translations should preserve meaning and identify the translator or method where relevant. Embeds remain subject to the source platform and should not be used to evade permission requirements.

Transparency and accountability

The policy works with the rest of our public standards rather than in isolation. Bylines identify responsibility, sources should be credited, material conflicts should be disclosed and confirmed mistakes should be corrected. We do not create fake experts, fabricated quotations or misleading claims of firsthand experience.

Editors may update this policy as workflows, law or publishing technology changes. A policy update does not erase responsibility for previously published work.

Questions about this policy

Questions or well-supported concerns can be sent through the Contact page. Include the relevant URL and a concise explanation. We distinguish good-faith criticism from pressure intended to suppress accurate reporting or manipulate an independent opinion.
